But Sally said she'd be willing to offer us some bribes to stay on her side. I don't know.

I'm giving it some time before I choose.

Nothing wrong with that. [right?] It's still early, so there's time to decide. And it depends on the bribes and how you get along with the dorm head, I guess.

[there's another slight pause.] Did you already talk to Adora, too?

Of course I have.

Neither of us are going to just rush into things. We need to make sure swapping is safe, first.

[SHE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENS TO DESSERTERS. . . even if both Viola and Sally have assured her nothing bad will happen to those who swap]

Just checking. [he shrugs kind of like "my bad" before he nods again.] A few people I've talked to have said they wouldn't swap to be with the people they know, so just thought I'd ask. Especially since you guys seem close.

[why wouldn't those people swap, she means. obviously?? being on the same side?? as your bestie?? is best??]

Something about finding it useful to meet other people and hear from other dorm leads. [yeah, he's kind of conflicted on that, too.]

Sounds pretty dumb to me. If the winning team gets a wish, wouldn't it be smarter to just join your friends on the same team so you can all win at the same time and get that wish?

That's if you and your friends all want the same thing. [...] Winning team gets their own piece of a dimension, which still doesn't make a ton of sense but whatever. It would be smarter since the dorm heads get points based on how many people are in their dorm, too.

Do you think they're telling the truth about the wish thing though?

And I don't know. I don't know if they're telling the truth about anything.

But I do know that, no matter what, it's always better to be on the same side as the people you don't want to fight.

Uh. So you know how this place is another world that's different than yours? Viola told me that the winner of the dorm wars can create a pocket dimension that's basically whatever they want. You get a wish for graduating, but the dimension thing is its own prize. So...you could make a perfect world or whatever.

[...and also, like, she's right. but he's still kind of pissed about the bonfire on top of a few other conflicting feelings so he settles on a nod.]

They keep saying that this is all just a friendly competition, but there's too many things that're way too suspicious about it. Maybe it really is fine, but I'm not sure yet.

Yeah, no, I get that. But why would you want your own personal dimension? You'd have to keep it clean and everything.

Some people want to create a perfect world. [he says, tiredly, like he has experience or something.] Or there's something they want that they can't get otherwise without starting from scratch.

...but I don't either. Otherwise they would be a lot more upfront about this whole thing. Wouldn't they?

[that statement resonates with her, but. . . she already knows she wouldn't be able to get away with dragging Adora away from Etheria to some brand new pocket dimension. and honestly? she knows she shouldn't even try. after all, half of Etheria's whole mess is her fault, isn't it? and she has a responsibility to stick around and fix it, too]

[so she pushes the whole pocket dimension thing aside with a shrug of her shoulders and focuses on the second part of what Taichi says]

I think they think they are being up front. Sally already thinks we're pulling some kind of elaborate prank on her.

[catra your responsibility...but yeah, okay, he doesn't mind dropping the subject because it's sort of a sticking point for him, too, for a few reasons.]

I got that impression. Either that or they're really good actors. Not like we can tell one way or another through text. And some of their stories are already a little weird to begin with.

But okay. Let's say they really do think they're being up front. How do we fix that? [it has been four days, calm down.]

Yeah, pretty much. It's a good question isn't it?

Yeah, I guess so. But if that's the question, none of us know enough yet to have an answer.
